Just give me a moment....

Tonight a guy at Trader Joe's asked me how I was
(are they instructed to do that? is it in the "working at Trader Joe's manual"
or something? because they ALWAYS ask)
and I thought about it a moment and then said
"I'm tired"
he looked up at me, laughed, thanked me for my honesty and then when I asked how
he was doing, he responded with the same.
And then all of the sudden we were friends (:

But truly,
we are a very tired worn out pair over here lately.
I guess there's a lot of little reasons
(heatwave, not sleeping because of said heatwave,
stress from school, little stresses, etc)
but as a whole its just been a stressful tiring week.

So tonight we'll set the timer for an hour,
grab a root beer, put on Nat King Cole's "That's All",
sigh about stupid heatwaves and allergies,
and then when the timer goes off,
we'll get back to work.

Because sometimes we just need a moment
from the craze in order to keep going.

Just keep going and going and going (;

In which Josh goes to summer camp....

So that sexy face up there is on his
way to MI right now for summer camp.
For a week.
A WHOLE week.
Commence chanting of "I'm a big girl,
I will NOT text Josh every hour for the next 5 days"
Ha! But really....

I have such a deep respect and admiration for the
many military wives who endure and survive weeks and long months without
seeing their husbands so that we can live safe and protected.
I only have a week (and I don't have any kids!)
and I'm kind of wondering what in the world I'm going to do with this week.

Just kidding, I do know.
I'm going to go to work,
take care of our home,
and pray for and love those youth
 while Josh goes and spends
a solid week loving and serving them.

But man oh man am I going to miss that guy of mine....

As I was driving home from dropping Husband off,
I could NOT find a parking spot.
(One of the major bummers of living in the city)
right when I was seriously thinking about
giving in to the desire to cry my eyes out
I saw a couple that needed help jump starting their car, so I helped them,
(although I don't know why they needed to start their car, they weren't leaving)
and then lo and behold around the corner there was a HUGE open
spot just waiting for me!

Such a sweet blessing and reminder that God will provide.

Here's to a week of singleness and probably lots
of London Hospital (;

Happy Sunday!

some days...

 ... are weird days.
As in really weird. As in from the moment I wake up nothing feels quite right
and I'm not quite sure what to do about it.
There's this quiet melancholy that settles in my being and is
content to stay the whole day through.
Do you ever have days like that?
(You do? Oh good, I'm so glad I'm not the only one!)

On these days I've developed some habits to help
me enjoy the day.

1. Delight in the moment for God has given it and hence it is good

2. Drink an extra cup of coffee

3.Wear a favorite pretty dress

4. Listen to something inspiring
(this is usually the The Civil Wars)

5. Include things that I enjoy in the to do list for the day

These do not make the melancholy go away but it does help me to see and enjoy the day for what it is.

 And this dress?
Pretty much my dream dress since I was 6 years old and my Mama read me
Little House On The Prairie for the first time.
Husband found it in a Salvation Army rummage sale,
bet you didn't know the Salvation Army had rummage sales did you? (;

Since we're talking about Husband (like how I snuck that in?) prayers, kisses,
and cuddles from Husband ALWAYS help.

Today...

I feel a little sick and a little sore
Emotions are a plenty and confusing
Motivation is nowhere to be found
I just want to cuddle with Husband and let the time pass us by
And the thought of leaving my cool home to go outside in the heat makes me want to cry.

And yet off to work on my bike I go
and I will count my blessings as I go.

hope you have a wonderful day

I thought I was so domestic... and then I got married

and burned our dinner.

and now our little apartment and everything in it is going to smell
like burned sautéed green beans and potatoes for days.
Oops.

Curls

I should know by now. It is quite ridiculous honestly. I should know by now not to let anyone with straight hair and any kind of sharp object anywhere NEAR my very curly head. But no, they tell me "oh I know what I'm doing! I cut curly hair ALL the time. Don't worry!" and I succumb only to regret it deeply for a VERY long time. Ugh.
Sorry husband.

From your very sorry wife who didn't listen to you when you told her when she went to the salon with all her friends to not to let the stylist do ANYTHING with scissors and now has unflattering shirley temple locks.
~Lyss

P.S. Dear Husband, I promise to grow my hair out to a very, VERY long length from now on.
Really, I mean it this time.
