Mushy Stuff

So this guy, the really handsome one with the mischievous smile up there,
had different plans for my birthday.
As in TOTALLY different plans.
Well thought out for the perfect execution plans.
But when he got home and assessed how I was doing in his quiet
observant way, he changed everything
so that I would enjoy my birthday to the fullest extent.
I am so proud of this guy and that night I was amazed
to watch him come up with an amazing
night on the fly.
Really impressed.
He rocks my world (:
Did you know that happened when he proposed to me too?
Oh yeah.
He had this grandiose plan of taking me out on a boat
to an island where a romantic candle lit dinner would be set up, etc, etc.
It was going to be AMAZING
(or so I'm told ;))
but the day came that he planned to ask me to marry him
and it was cold, raining, and super windy.
So he changed the whole plan
and what actually happened was so beautiful
and precious that I can't imagine it being any better.
So he's really good at this whole changing up plans thing,
although I think he's hoping that at least once his original
plan will work (:

And thats my mushy gushy for the day.
I just really love Joshua Burkhardt
and on my birthday I was extra in awe that
he loves me and loves me so well.
I am one lucky girl/woman
(now that I'm 24 am I considered a woman or a girl?
now I really want to know :P)

"There is no greater risk than matrimony. But there is nothing happier than a happy marriage"

3 years ago today
we said I Do and
became "us".
Who knew it could be so good?

love me do

Tonight we both (completely on accident) wore the shirts
we wore the night Josh said "I love you" and put a shiny ring on my finger.

Somehow knowing this made the night all that more special.

Even though I coughed and sneezed my way through all of zoo lights
and the signature room AND the cheesecake factory :P
stupid cold....

Google still won't let me post anything new....

so here's some posts I wrote awhile ago (:

"It will come sometime. Some beautiful morning she will just wake up and find it is Tomorrow. Not Today but Tomorrow. And Then things will happen... wonderful things."
~Anne with an e

Lately I've found myself nostalgic for the "first" days of us.
After we had become The Burkhardts and started the adventure there of.
Days full of learning and settling.
Learning how to kiss, argue without the neighbors hearing, convey something in public
without using words, and what we wanted "us" to mean.
You know, normal newly wed stuff (;

I remember reveling in the joy of doing dishes, washing the laundry, cleaning, and cooking dinner in
OUR home and the exhilaration of knowing that when Josh would
come home from work he would be coming home to ME!

And I knew that that initial excitement may wear off, but I loved it nontheless.

And I still love it (:
Not so much the dishes part,
but my stomach still does a flip flop when I hear Husband coming in the door
and joy wells up in the pit of my stomach and flows upwards until I have to catch my breath.

I'm so grateful for husband and for us.
I'm grateful for the ebbs and flows from the beginning days of us
until the end days of us in glory.

love

it was everywhere on this sweet day.
It was found on the the open admiration found on the two people's faces who's
beautiful friendship has now turned them into lover's.
It was found with soft nostalgia on every couple's face who have made that declaration
and commitment themselves on a day long ago.
It was stamped on the fingerprints of helping hands found here and there and everywhere.
It was in the tears of the mothers who watched their little ones run off to the adventure
of truly learning how to love. It was in the joy of everyone as we lifted little tubes of bubbles
up to our lips and blew them with our hopes and dreams for their happiness.
It was so openly displayed on the groom as he openly adored his beloved and with every glance declared his adoration and want for her for the world to look on and sigh with joy.
It was seen quietly on the sweet bride's face as she ran to see to every little detail and then would turn and beam with love and want at her beloved.

Oh, it was all too lovely to portray.

Dear Husband

I love you so my darling.
Thank you for making this girl so very happy and for loving her so very, very, well.

In which we celebrate the beautiful story called "Us"

I am so in love with this man of mine! Yesterday was our 2 year wedding anniversary and we enjoyed it to the fullest. It was so sweet how richly God blessed us with unexpected time together yesterday. From riding together to work, to Husband being kicked out of the office due to a private meeting and working at Starbucks instead (so of course E and I had to go distract him for awhile!), to lunching together, to getting off a little early, and to riding home together, it was perfect way to prepare for a special evening together. And honestly, after having probably the worst argument we've ever had the night before (We stink at timing. Worst argument ever the night before your anniversary? urgh.) the time together was very healing and so needed. We are so blessed, us two. God has filled our life with His forgiveness and grace and I am so grateful God pre-ordained before time began the story of "Us".
