This week and coffee induced ramblings

This week has consisted of lots of little sleep nights,
lots of early mornings,
and lots and lots of coffee to try and stay awake
and pleasant (;
Although I should note that the heatwave
ended Friday morning and the weekend was such a delightful beginning of fall!
Bring out the sweaters and pumpkin soup!

I got a wicked blister on Friday
from wearing boots that I forgot I hadn't completely broken in last year,
So we kept pretty close to home all weekend.
(seriously! I was limping the whole weekend and there was slight concern of infection.
And I wore socks! Promise! I was not an idiot this time)
but it was wonderful all the same (:
Husband kept tsking over me with concern and we got lots and lots done
in lieu of fall cleaning at home.

This week and the not sleeping much has just done me in,
although in thinking about it its really just the not sleeping much.
This week standing on its own has been delightful.

Yesterday I texted Husband and invited him to go to the zoo
with my boys and I after school.
When I told the boys Josh was coming to the zoo with us
you would have thought I had told them we were going to
Disney land. Squeals and fist pumps and "oh yeah!" all around (:
those boys LOVE Josh.
It was one of my favorite afternoons.
We had SUCH fun
and had so many little adventures.
Playing tag with Otters, high fiving Beavers (No really! It was the coolest thing!)
climbing through a massive maze jungle gym, and singing
Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" at the top of our lungs.

I am so grateful for the honor of getting to love
and take care of these little boys
and so humbled when Josh comes along side
and loves them too.

We are so blessed.

And with that sappiness....

I hope you have a wonderful weekend
filled with long naps
and autumn picnics!
We're hoping for sleep without nightmares
(please. please. please)
and to go record hunting (:

An Introduction

I promise I was telling the truth awhile ago when I wrote that I wasn't
going to be a nanny anymore.
We were certain that that season of our lives was done
and that it was time to move on to other things.
It broke our hearts a little, I loved nannying.
It was such a great job for me and us and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
But as I said, due to A LOT of reasons
we were certain that season was done.

God obviously had other plans (:

A friend who is also nanny (who is moving.... so going to miss her!)
approached me a couple weeks before I was finishing and told me that
her nanny family was still looking for a replacement and that she had
mentioned me to them and they were very interested in meeting/interviewing me
would I be interested in meeting/interviewing them?

So husband and I talked and talked and talked and talked a little more
and decided as long as I was very clear that I wasn't sure
I wanted to nanny anymore it wouldn't hurt to keep
the door open for a job, you know just in case.

Long story made a little shorter,
this job/family was everything that we had been hoping
and praying for in the next job for me
(they even have a dog! which has secretly been on my wish list since I started nannying :))
and it was very VERY clear that this is where
God wanted me to be.

So blog,
meet my little men (:

They are the sweetest, wildest, cleverest little men you'll ever meet
and I am so so honored to be a part of their lives.

P.S. Another parking spot! Seriously.

Dear E,

You're already infatuated with the new girl
so I should comfort myself knowing that you're
not going to miss me THAT much.
But still.
There's a knot where my stomach should
be and tears are heavy at the back of my eyes.
Sweet girl, how oh how am I going to get through today?

I love you,

Italian Ice

I've been eyeing this italian ice place down the street for months now,
just waiting for the first really warm day to go.

Josh and I stopped by on Tuesday when it was 80 degrees
and was everything I had been dreaming of.
It is sooooo good.

So the next day I convinced Josh AND the next door
neighbors to go with me.
Needless to say they didn't need that much convincing (:

It was so much fun,
I'm really hoping this becomes a weekly thing
as the summer heat settles in.

Yummy ice and my favorite little friends?
I really don't think it gets much better (:

Happy Impending Summer!

An Ending

For a medley of reasons we have decided that
it is time that I take a season away from nannying.
Which means that my time of nannying these littles is done.

It is so bittersweet.

I have loved this littles of mine so dearly and
the decision to not have them be a part of my daily
rhythm was a very painful one and greatly agonized over.
But it is time.
Quite awhile ago it was decided that now was the time,
I let my families know,
and we have been counting the days with joy
and a twinge of forbearing since.

I am so excited for this next season of our life
(beginning with "The Great Roadtrip" so excited!!)
but the leaving of this past season is still sad.

2 more days.
We started counting at 62
and somehow it sped down till only 2 are left.
In 2 days I will kiss my little ones cheeks
and my role will shift from Nanny,
to babysitter.

Here we go.
